History

Since 1956

Posterama was founded in 1956 and mainly produced posters for bus shelters and billboards at the time. Van Nelle and FRAM were big clients back then. The name Posterama originated by combining the word 'poster' with the popular addition of 'ama' at the time (think Lekturama, Panorama, etc.).

Start of the bicycle industry

In 1982, Posterama started working for the bicycle industry. Posterama increasingly printed plastic for ring binders and folders. Then the strategy of broadening was chosen and screen printing was offered in the broadest sense of the word.

Internationalisation

The new owner, Frans-Theo Niemeijer, chose specialisation and internationalisation. The company moved to a new, modern company building in Heerenveen in 2007. Laboratory facilities with a self-owned (powder) coating installation and muffle oven were created at the end of 2008.

Takeover

In 2009, Posterama took over the activities of Screen Printing Company Van der Geest, making Posterama the market leader in printing transfers for the clog industry. A new path was taken: innovation, reliability, and commitment is what Posterama is now all about.

Much product development

Subsequently, many new, unique products for the bicycle industry were developed and knowledge and experience were gained with the help of a self-owned injection molding machine. Posterama is always looking for new challenges and opportunities to develop itself.

Collaboration TNO/Holst Center

Serious steps are being taken simultaneously in the field of printed electronics, in collaboration with TNO/Holst Center. All of this is rewarded with a nomination for the Erasmus Innovation Award. At the same time, sister companies HighTech Label Engineering and DecoCoat are established as independent companies from their own lab activities.

The Sppot

In 2016, Posterama joined the founding partners of The Sppot: a unique platform of independent companies that provide different and distinctive products to bicycle paint shops. Colleagues from the Competence Center in Sofia are trained to assist regional clients, and training programs are developed to support bicycle factories.

Our NWD water transfer goes international

The NWD water transfer breaks through internationally due to its unique properties, such as long-term processability and much shorter cycle times than competing products. Joint participation in the organisation of the "big 3" events becomes an annual tradition: the Color Trend Days in the spring, the stand at the Eurobike in the summer, and Get Technical in the fall.

Shift in markets

Due to internationalisation, a shift has occurred in the markets in which Posterama is active. In addition to the bicycle industry where Posterama is still a market leader, the plastic, medical, and automotive industries have also become important for Posterama.
